Have been finding out clients do not know this law.
So why bring this this law? In the state of Texas all notarial acts must be recorded in a "journal" book (yes, there are exceptions). More and more I am finding out that the general public does not know about the following law.
APR 22, 2007

APR 22, 2007
Texas
ADMINISTRATIVE RULE — Prohibits a Notary Public (other than a court clerk) from recording in his/her official journal an ID card number from a state-approved identification card used by the Notary to positively identify the signer. This includes, but is not restricted to, driver’s license numbers and social security numbers.
What they are to do is record the address on the ID that was use, EXPIRATION DATE of said ID and what type of ID it was -- TX DL / passport / etc
