"Warning! I was told this morning the my granddaughter who is away at college, received a phone call telling her that her Amex card had a lot of activity on it.
They wanted to verify her social security number, but she was going to a class and did not have the number with her. She called her parents in a panic because she does not have an Amex card. Long and short Dad investigated and it was a fraud. Very sophisticated but a fraud. They were trying to get her social security number over the phone. So, beware and NEVER give anyone your social security number over the phone."So the point is this: When you get these types of calls try to get all the contact numbers, business address etc you can. Then say "am sorry but we have to go right now" then contact the customer service number on the back of your card or the statement online to let the company know that you received this type of phone call.
